When it comes to holiday style, I feel like I love two very distinct looks that couldn’t be more opposite. I have my classic holiday wardrobe pieces, which include red, green, festive plaids, bows and holly berry accessories and then I have my “alternative” holiday pieces. Black faux fur, black and white stripes, black vegan leather…call it dark holiday if you want because my alt holiday looks are definitely inspired my love for Halloween and the Victorian Era. I guess if my holiday style was a Facebook relationship status it would be “it’s complicated,” but both styles are super true to who I am.
The look featured in this post is clearly dedicated to my love and appreciation for all things classic Christmas. I’ve been waiting an entire year to wear this set from the 1940s! I purchased it online from Dela Deville’s Vintage a week before Christmas last year and didn’t have time to shoot it before the end of the holiday season. This year, giving this dress its moment was at the top of my holiday to-do list!
Vanessa Wolf and I had the best time at Helvetia Farm Market shooting this look over the weekend. While we were there, I picked up a couple Christmas gifts and grabbed a Gingerbread Chai Latte at the cafe. I also mistook a couple dogs in the field for sheep because I didn’t have my glasses on. Oops 😆.
