I’ve heard Marilyn Monroe loved New York City. Those close to her said she loved it because she wasn’t bothered there as much as she was in Hollywood. Some have even said she could stroll through the streets of New York unnoticed. If I could spend a day with her, those are all questions I would ask. What’s your favorite city and why? Is it true you could occasionally go unnoticed? And at some point, after getting to know the real Marilyn, I’d hope she would ask me a question. “Do you want to see me become her?” Her being Marilyn. Apparently Marilyn could turn the Marilyn Monroe persona on and off like magic AND if that’s not talent, I don’t know what is!
Marilyn wasn’t the dumb blonde she portrayed on screen, she was always trying to better herself personally and professionally. Channeling my inner Marilyn has not only given me more confidence in front of the camera but in my daily life as well. I’m constantly asking myself “what would Marilyn do?” or “how would Marilyn handle this situation?”.
It’s important to remember Norma Jeane didn’t become Marilyn overnight, it took years of practice. So if there’s something you want, keep working for it. And with that, I wish you a wonderful weekend!
