My Top 20 Favorite Beatles Songs

November 9, 2018

This post was originally titled “My Top 10 Favorite Beatles Songs,” but let’s face it, how could I honestly narrow it down to 10?! Impossible, right?!

Growing up, the radio was usually on in our house and it was always tuned to an “oldies “ station. I grew up listening to Elton John, The Beach Boys, Neil Diamond, The Monkees, Simon & Garfunkel, Fleetwood Mac and of course The Beatles.  The Beatles will always have a special place in my heart because their music has been in my life (no pun intended) for as long as I can remember. When I was little, it was the catchy lyrics and Paul that I loved. As I got older, it was still the lyrics and Paul that I loved, but I was (and still am) fascinated by the phenomenon that was The Beatles and “Beatlemania”. If you have time, take a second to research “Beatlemania” and read about the factors that resulted in them being a social and cultural phenomenon.  I wish I had time to dissect it… Most believe “Beatlemania” would have happened regardless but the media saturation at the time, the generational gap, the first wave of WWII baby boomers entering their teenage years and the assassination of President Kennedy took the mania to new heights. I don’t claim to be an expert on The Beatles by any means, but I do love their music and I enjoy learning about them. It’s amazing to think about everything The Beatles accomplished in just 8 years together!

My 20 favorite Beatles songs :

1. A Day In The Life // 2. Hey Jude // 3. Let It Be // 4. And I Love Her // 5. I Should Have Known Better // 6. I’ve Just Seen A Face // 7. Elanor Rigby // 8. Yesterday //9. While My Guitar Gently Weeps //10. Help! // 11. Please Please Me // 12. Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown) // 13. Penny Lane // 14. Strawberry Fields Forever // 15. Ticket To Ride // 16. Golden Slumbers // 17. Carry That Weight, The End  // 18. All You Need Is Love //19. Hello Goodbye // 20. I Feel Fine

What are your favorite Beatles songs? Who is your favorite Beatle? Let me know in the comments!

Instagram Roundup!

November 3, 2018

Happy Saturday, everyone!! I realized I haven’t done an Instagram roundup in a while. I have no idea where time is going…Can anyone else not get over the fact that the holiday season is upon us?!  So crazy…

Anyway, here’s what I’ve been up to so far this fall.

Last weekend,  I got the opportunity to collaborate with O’Field Apparel! I’ve been a fan of Maddie Iverson’s line since discovering it during the summer of 2017. Last month she was named the 2018 UpNXT Emerging Designer at opening night of PDX fashion week. I was super excited for her! Stay tuned for images from our collaboration and my interview with her!

I got a new do!! I went to the lovely and talented Madeline Qi at Studio 7 salon in downtown, Tigard OR! I met Madeline over the summer while working on the Mad About Plaid shoot for Most Everything Vintage. She did an amazing job on my hair and makeup, but as soon as I saw the cut and color she gave my friend, Lizzie, I knew I had to have her work her magic on me too. If you’re in the Portland area and in the market for a stylist, go see Madeline! You’ll be glad you did, trust me!

Aww this lady, Lizzie, where should I begin? Last weekend she took me to me to a coffee shop, in St. John’s,  for epic pumpkin spice lattes and avocado toast. Afterwards, she took me to this spot with an amazing view of the St. John’s bridge. If it sounds like we go on the best girl dates, we really do. P.S. my shorts are only $13!!

Last month I met up with some fellow PDX bloggers at a local pumpkin patch. It was muddy and a little rainy, but still a good time. I don’t usually wear jeans and T-shirts but when I do, I layer! I’ve noticed layering tends to make even the most casual looks appear a bit more polished.

Did someone say weekend?! Since weekends are my absolute favorite, I had to have this sweater! I’ve been loving the new “DIP into Style” line exclusively at Fred Meyer stores, it’s fun, trendy and affordable.  Fred Meyer is usually the first place I take friends and family when they come to visit because they literally have everything! If you live in Oregon and you haven’t perused the DIP line at Freddy’s yet,  you definitely should!

This turtleneck from Mapel Boutique is so soft and so cozy, I’ll probably be living in it all fall/winter. Every time I wear it, I ask someone to touch a sleeve so they can experience the softness for themselves. Now through 11/11/18, use my code SJ5 in stores and online to save $5 on any purchase! You can treat yourself or start your holiday shopping.

This season, I’m all about mixing new fall favorites with old fall favorites. I recently ordered this sweater online at Forever21.  The colorful stripes were just too good to pass up. Wear this boxy sweater with your favorite pair of high waisted jeans and you’ve got an effortless fall look! Follow me on the LIKEtoKNOW.it app for all the details!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!

One Skirt, Two Different Looks

October 24, 2018

Last week I went to Mapel Boutique for some much needed retail therapy. I was on a mission for a couple tops and one bottom to wear with each of them. That’s right, ONE bottom. As much as I loved the jeans at Mapel, I ultimately decided on a knee length black lace pencil skirt. I loved how each of the tops I picked out looked so different paired with the lace but equally as chic. What I love most about the looks featured in this post, is their functionality! These looks are perfect for a day at the office to an evening out, no wardrobe changes necessary. Style with booties or heels for an on trend fall look that’s perfect from day to night!

For those of you in Portland, OR who’ve never been to Mapel, you have to check them out! I visited the Bridgeport Village location last week, but I’m looking forward visiting their other two locations as well. If you don’t live in Portland, good news…you can shop online here ! Be sure to use promo code SJ5 for $5 off any purchase in stores and online, now through November 11, 2018!

Sweater Weather

October 24, 2018

Every fall I rediscover my love for cozy sweaters, jeans and booties.  As the temperatures drop I always find myself gravitating towards outfits that are not only warm but comfortable.

If there’s one sweater I’ve been wearing more than others this fall, it’s this one from Tealight Boutique. Taupe has always been one of my favorite fall colors. It’s such a great neutral and it pairs nicely with the many other colors that make up my fall color palette.

This sweater is less than $50, really well made and so cozy. Additionally,  it’s such a versatile piece! I’ve already styled it multiple ways and I’m still imagining new ways to wear it that include white jeans and faux leather leggings.

You can check out more sweaters from Tealight Boutique here.

And…. as a welcoming to new customers, Tealight Boutique is offering 10% off everything! Be sure to use code Welcome10 at checkout for 10% off your order!!

The Eye Cream I’m Loving – VIIcode Skin Care

September 30, 2018

I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect eye cream for years, so when VIIcode Skin Care approached me to try theirs…I couldn’t resist! Just days before, I ran out of the eye cream I was currently testing and was on the fence about purchasing the product again. I love trying new skin care products, but only a few of new products I try actually make it in to my daily skin care regimen. Let’s face it, we all have those products we swear by and rebuy instantly upon running out, but I can honestly say, none of the eye creams I’ve ever tried have had that impact on me. Since my cheeks, T-zone and jaw line are prone to breakouts if I’m not using the same oil free products day after day, it’s nice to know I can at least be  adventurous when it comes to eye creams I test.

I’ve been using the VIIcode T2 Oxygen Eye Cream for a little over a month now and I must say, I’m impressed! VIIcode uses a unique “T2” stone mortar extraction process, that activates the skin’s natural repair system. First off, do not let the 0.17 OZ container fool you, a little goes a long way! Results may vary, but I noticed positive results after the very first use. The cream left my skin feeling silky and the slight fragrance didn’t irritate my eyes, which was a major plus! With continued use morning and night  (over the course of a month)  the skin around my eyes looks brighter and less pigmented. I’ve also noticed the puffiness I occasionally experience, first thing in the morning, is no longer an issue. With each passing year, taking care of the skin around my eyes becomes more of a priority. When I’m staying hydrated and consistently applying the VIIcode T2 Oxygen Eye Cream as part of my skincare routine, the results are noticeable.

Summer 2018 Roundup

September 20, 2018

Does anyone else feel like this summer flew by?! I only found time to relax by the pool once, which means my tan is pretty much nonexistent and my skin is probably thanking me… With only a few days of summer remaining, I thought it would be fun to roundup some of my favorite summer outfits on the blog.

You’ll notice my favorite summer looks have a couple things in common, they’re all vintage or vintage inspired and they’re all dresses! I love dresses year round, but I especially love them during the warm summer months; since shorts never seem to agree with me.

As much as I’m looking forward to all of the layers, booties and pumpkin spice lattes fall has to offer- it’s always bittersweet to set aside my summer essentials until next year.

Happy almost Friday, everyone!

My Favorite Dress From Nordstrom

August 7, 2018

Kermit the Frog once asked the question, “Why are there so many songs about rainbows and what’s on the other side?” Sadly, I don’t know the answer to that question… but I do know this dress is only $55 at Nordstrom!! For the record, I purchased this dress before the NSale madness began.

It’s no secret I’m always on the hunt for fun prints.  I’ll often go to my favorite online retailers and run a search for the exact print I’m looking for. That’s how I stumbled upon this maxi, I ran a search using the keyword “rainbow” and ta-da! I seriously think if summer were a dress,  it would look a lot like this maxi.

Are there any prints you’re loving this summer?! If so, let me know in the comments section : )

Stars & Stripes – Meet Stripes & Stripes

July 4, 2018

My 2017 4th of July look is on repeat and I’m not even mad about it! When friend, photographer and blogger, Lizzie Harrell, suggested we get together to shoot 4th of July inspired looks, I was totally onboard! Instead of buying a new outfit for our shoot, I turned to my closet. Sure I’m always acquiring “new inventory” but I love recycling old favorites.  My annual 4th of July outfits tend to be a mix of patriotic and nautical. Since red, white and blue are a few of my favorite summer colors, I already had a variety of pieces in my closet to create this look!

If you’re still looking for the perfect outfit to wear to a backyard BBQ or firework display, turn to your closet. You might be pleasantly surprised.

Happy 4th of July, everyone!

Thank you to Lizzie Harrell for partnering with me on this post! Be sure to check out her blog The Thrill of the Thrift and follow her on Instagram for daily outfit inspiration that won’t break the bank!

My Favorite Basket Bags Under $50

May 28, 2018

If there’s one spring to summer trend I’m still loving, it’s the basket bag. Most of the handbags you’ll see me carrying are true vintage, but there are so many vintage inspired handbags out there right now.

One of the things I love most about vintage, is the fact that the pieces I find are unique and one of a kind. If you don’t have access to a great vintage shop,  I’ve linked a few on-trend bags (with vintage vibes) that are sure to go with almost everything in your spring/summer wardrobe.

Feeling Fabulous In Floral

May 26, 2018

If I’m not wearing authentic vintage, I’m wearing modern pieces with retro vibes. So many of my vintage inspired dresses are from Chicwish.  They’ve been my go-to for classic silhouettes and unique prints for quite some time now.  When adding new items to my wardrobe, I always gravitate towards pieces with longevity.  Whoever said “trends come and go but classic is forever,” couldn’t have been more right.

I’ve linked this dress in navy, but it’s also available in pink!

Happy Memorial Day weekend, everyone!

Thank you to Seattle based photographer, Sarah Wolfe, for the amazing photos! Check out more of her work here!
